Is it Worth Having a Cabana at Universal's Volcano Bay?

We recently took our boys to Universal's Volcano Bay for a day of sun and fun. While we have been to the park several times, this time we chose to get a cabana. I've got to say, I don't know that I can return and not have one. Don't get me wrong, you can have the BEST time without having a cabana, but we were so spoiled that we will be getting a cabana again.

Volcano Bay is a waterpark located at Universal Orlando Resort - it recently turned 5 years old and is one of the best parks in the country.

Our day began when we checked in to the concierge kiosk at the front of the park (there are 2 others located near the locker areas) and we were greeted by a team member. We were then escorted to our cabana. There are single level and 2 story cabanas located throughout the park. There are 2 cabana types: Single Cabana (seats up to 6) and Family Suite Cabana (seats up to 16). We were on the lower level of a 2 story cabana in a single cabana and we had plenty of room.

When we arrived at our cabana, we were welcomed with an amazing snack tray! The boys loved the pastries and I appreciated having fresh fruit to snack on.

Every cabana comes with an attendant and waiter. The attendant comes by throughout the day and makes sure you have fresh towels available, empties the trash, and ensures that there isn't anything you need. The waiter comes by every 15 - 20 (ish) minutes to take food and drink orders that they deliver straight to your cabana. When you are traveling with small children, this is a lifesaver (and timesaver)!

Cabanas also have outlets for charging devices, a ceiling fan, chairs, padded benches (our littlest really enjoyed his nap on the bench), and a dining table. The cabanas are equipped with dry towels and unlimited water bottles, which comes in handy when you are in the Florida sun. There is also a safe where you can store valuables while you explore the park.

One of the best parts of having a cabana is that you can access the TapuTapu system from the tablet in your cabana, instead of having to go to the ride to access. This is by far the biggest perk!! I will do another blog on TapuTapu and how it works at Volcano Bay, but take my word for it - it is awesome!

Having a Cabana is great for the kids because it gives them a "home base" to be at for meals and rest time. We brought our 4 year old (he was 3 at the time) and it was so convenient to have a cool and shaded area for him to nap. There is also a fun sand area for the kids to play in right outside of the cabana.

Volcano Bay is a blast with or without a cabana, but if you are wanting to be spoiled and experience Volcano Bay in the most convenient way EVER, they are definitely for you! So the answer to the question posed at the beginning of this article is YES!! It is 100% worth it to have a cabana at Volcano Bay - just make sure to book it in advance because they WILL sell out!
